Getting Ready To Sell Your House In the Fall

We’ve all heard that Spring is the best time to sell a house. While in general this is true, there are ways to make your home sell just as quickly in the fall.

Here are a few tips for getting your house ready for fall home selling:

Get the yard cleaned up: Make sure trees and  lawns are manicured and get leaves are raked up and out of the way. Make sure all decks and patios are in good condition and look safe and sturdy. Make sure there’s a mat at the the door for buyers to wipe their feet  before entering your house.

Make it feel warm and cozy:  Nothing will put a buyer off quite like a  damp, cold feeling home.  away. Make sure to leave the heat on. It will make the house physically feel inviting against the chilly autumn backdrop. It will also keep your pipes from freezing… A flooded house do to frozen pipes bursting will also quickly kill a buyers mood. If you have a fireplace, have your realtor light a cozy fire. There are few things more inviting than a warm [looking] fire on a cold and/or damp day.

Simmer Your Sense of Smell:  Apple cider simmering on the stove or a pumpkin spice potpourri can create a wonderful ambiance that a potential buyer may not be able to resist!

Make sure your decor says “Autumn”:  Get some pumpkins out on the porch and/or change out the throw pillows and accent colors around the house to set the visual comfort level of the season.
